· Over 150 women participated, including former patients who had undergone Robotic assisted knee replacement surgery at CARE Hospitals
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, CARE Hospitals, Visakhapatnam organised a special walkathon featuring women who had undergone knee replacement surgery. The initiative was aimed at promoting women’s health, resilience, and the importance of leading an active lifestyle. International Women’s Day is observed every year on March 8 to recognise the achievements of women and to raise awareness about women’s empowerment, equality, and health.
The walkathon commenced from Kali Mata Temple and concluded at Yoga Village, promoting the importance of an active lifestyle and preventive healthcare among women. The initiative aimed to encourage women to stay physically active and prioritise their health as part of preventive healthcare.
The walk was led by Dr. Ravi Chandra Vattipalli, Chief Robotic Knee Replacement Surgeon, CARE Hospitals, Visakhapatnam, along with Dr. Raghu Yelavarthy, Senior Orthopedic Surgeon, and G. Sukesh Reddy, Chief Operating Officer, CARE Hospitals, Visakhapatnam. Hospital staff, former patients, and members of the local community also actively participated in the walkathon. Participation of former patients who has undergone Robotic Knee Surgery, highlights the importance of quality medical care in ensuring healthy lifestyle.
The walkathon saw participation from over 150 women, including former patients who had successfully undergone knee replacement surgery at CARE Hospitals, women employees, hospital staff, and members of the public. Their participation highlighted the importance of mobility and active living after joint replacement surgery, demonstrating how advanced treatment and proper rehabilitation can help patients regain confidence and return to their daily activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravi Chandra Vattipalli, said, “Women play a vital role in families and society, yet their health is often neglected. Through this walkathon, we want to encourage women to prioritise their health, stay active, and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Regular physical activity, timely medical check-ups, and awareness are key to preventing many health issues.”
