The scheme offers collateral-free loans up to ₹2 lakh at a subsidized interest rate of 6.75% through 12 Public Sector Banks, making rooftop solar installations more accessible. Additionally, beneficiaries receive subsidies up to ₹78,000 for systems up to 3 kilowatts, significantly reducing installation costs.
Notably, Chandigarh and Daman & Diu have achieved 100% of their government building rooftop solar targets, leading in clean energy adoption. States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu are also performing exceptionally well, contributing significantly to the overall installation figures.
The scheme has a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore and supports domestic manufacturingng by mandating the use of India-produced solar modules and cells. As of March 10, 2025, it has facilitated the installation of over 3 GW of rooftop solar capacity, with an additional 27 GW targeted by March 2027.
