National Landslide Forecasting Centre and Landslide Mobile App launched in Kolkata

The Union Minister of Coal and Mines inaugurated the National Landslide Forecasting Centre at GSI, Dharitri Complex, Salt Lake City, Kolkata yesterday. He also launched the Geo-Indication Web Portal and Landslide Mobile App. Shri Janardan Prasad, Director General, GSI and other senior officials of the organization were present at the event apart from dignitaries from various disaster management agencies and stakeholder organizations. Two of the five largest coal mines in the world are now in India

Gevra and Kusmunda coal mines of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India located in Chhattisgarh, have got second and fourth place respectively in the list of 10 largest coal mines in the world released by worldatlas.com.
