WWF EIACP PC-RP under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change today celebrated World Wildlife Day, 2024 by organizing various activities at Okhla Bird Sanctuary, one of the rich bio-diversity sites focusing on Mission Life. World Wildlife Day (WWD) is celebrated every year on 3 March to celebrate wildlife and plants. Every year we recognize the unique role and contribution of wildlife to people and the planet.
This year's theme is 'Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation'. World Wildlife Day 2024 is a platform for inter-generational exchange and youth empowerment through art, presentation and conservation about the opportunities that lie ahead for our shared and sustainable future in digital wildlife conservation. The day offers a starting point to explore what digital innovations are available now, what intersectional disparities we face and how we would like our May digital connectivity flourish for all people and planet.
Technological innovation has made research, communication, tracking, DNA analysis and many other aspects of wildlife conservation more easy, efficient and accurate. We are in the midst of a global digital revolution that is breaking down the barriers of people-centric digital governance and providing equal opportunities for all to unleash the power of digital transformation. The 'digital divide' is gradually reducing and better connectivity and internet access is reaching 66 per cent of our global population.
The program organized at Okhla Bird Sanctuary saw a huge presence of youth which also included participation from school and college students and the public. Shri Pramod Kumar Divisional Forest Officer, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh was the chief guest of this program.
