First Multi-Lane Free Flow Toll Plaza on NH-48 started in Rajasthan

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has commissioned Rajasthan's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at the Daulatpura Toll Plaza on the Delhi–Jaipur section of National Highway-48. The initiative marks a significant step towards modernising India's toll collection system by enabling seamless, barrier-free travel for motorists.

The MLFF system combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology with FASTag-based Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), allowing vehicles to pass through the toll plaza without stopping. The automated system is expected to reduce congestion, save travel time, lower fuel consumption and cut vehicular emissions.

To ensure smooth operation, NHAI has advised motorists to maintain sufficient FASTag balance. Vehicles with invalid or low-balance FASTags will receive an electronic notice, with payment required within 72 hours to avoid penalties, including double toll charges and possible FASTag blacklisting.

Following the successful rollout at Daulatpura, NHAI plans to extend the Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling system to the Shahjahanpur and Manoharpur toll plazas on the Delhi–Jaipur corridor, reinforcing its commitment to creating a technology-driven, efficient and user-friendly national highway network.
