220-Bed ESIC Hospital Inaugurated in Surat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated a new 220-bed hospital of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation in Surat, strengthening healthcare infrastructure for insured workers and their families in one of India’s largest industrial hubs.

The state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly improve access to quality medical services for beneficiaries covered under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme. Equipped with modern healthcare infrastructure, the hospital will provide a wide range of outpatient, inpatient, diagnostic, emergency, and specialized medical services.

The new hospital is aimed at catering to the growing healthcare needs of Surat’s large workforce employed in sectors such as textiles, diamonds, engineering, and manufacturing. The facility is expected to reduce the burden on existing healthcare institutions while ensuring timely and affordable treatment for ESI beneficiaries.

The inauguration marks another step in the government’s efforts to expand social security and healthcare coverage for workers across the country. The ESIC network has been steadily expanding through the establishment of new hospitals, dispensaries, and medical colleges to enhance healthcare accessibility.

Officials said the hospital will play a key role in improving healthcare outcomes for insured workers and their dependents, while contributing to the overall strengthening of the region’s public healthcare ecosystem.

With the commissioning of the 220-bed ESIC hospital, Surat receives a major healthcare boost, reinforcing its capacity to serve a rapidly growing industrial workforce and ensuring better access to quality medical care.
