Scientists have reconstructed nearly 4,000 years of climate and vegetation history of Majuli Island, the world’s largest inhabited river island, providing valuable insights that could help shape climate adaptation and flood-management strategies for vulnerable riverine communities. Researchers from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences analysed a 150-cm sediment core collected from the Sakali Wetland on the island.
